During a recent visit to Chicago, I had the privilege of meeting with one of the most passionate advocates for charter schools in the city—Stephanie Sandoval, a key member of the Illinois Network of Charter Schools (INCS). As someone who is deeply connected to the mission of strengthening charter schools, Stephanie’s backstory was not only inspiring but also a testament to the powerful impact that charter schools can have on a student’s life.

A Personal Connection to Charter Education

Stephanie’s journey is a powerful reminder of the long-lasting effects a quality education can have. She is an alum of a local charter school, and her story is a living example of how charter schools provide a unique and transformative educational experience. Instead of just receiving the benefits of a charter education, she is now in a position where she’s actively giving back—working to support and empower charter schools across Illinois.

What stood out to me about Stephanie was not just her warmth and kindness, but also the depth of her commitment. She is incredibly passionate about strengthening the charter school network and ensuring that these schools continue to thrive, providing opportunities for future generations of students just like herself.

Empowering Charter Schools Across Illinois

At the Illinois Network of Charter Schools, Stephanie plays a pivotal role in organizing professional development opportunities, networking events, and resources that help charter schools optimize their operations. She is directly involved in coordinating trainings that bring together charter leaders, teachers, and staff to learn and grow together. These sessions provide crucial support in areas such as instructional best practices, leadership development, and school operations—ensuring that schools have the knowledge and resources they need to succeed.

One of the things that really impressed me was Stephanie’s commitment to building connections within the charter school community. INCS acts as a central hub for charter schools across Illinois, offering vital networking opportunities that allow schools to collaborate and share best practices. Stephanie helps facilitate these connections, creating an ecosystem of support that is invaluable to charter school leaders. It's clear that she understands the importance of community, both within the charter school network and with external partners who can help drive change and innovation.

A Partner Organization That Fights for Charters

The work of INCS goes far beyond providing training and resources. They are also staunch advocates for charter schools at the local and state levels, fighting for policies that support school choice and equitable access to quality education. Stephanie's team at INCS is dedicated to making sure charter schools are not only effective in the classroom but also have the support they need to navigate the complex landscape of education policy, funding, and compliance.

Through regular updates and communication with partner schools, INCS helps keep charter leaders informed about important legislative changes, funding opportunities, and any developments that could impact their operations. This level of advocacy and awareness is critical in a constantly evolving educational landscape, and it’s clear that INCS is an indispensable resource for charter schools across the state.

Looking Ahead: Excited to Partner with INCS

After spending time with Stephanie and learning more about INCS’s work, I left feeling energized and inspired by the organization’s vision and dedication. Their work truly matters to the charter school community, and I’m excited about the prospect of partnering with them in the future.

There is something incredibly powerful about an organization that is not only committed to the success of individual schools but also works tirelessly to build a supportive network of schools that can learn from and support each other. Stephanie’s work—and the work of INCS—is a testament to the importance of collaboration, advocacy, and strategic partnerships in the education sector.

I’m looking forward to working alongside INCS and supporting their mission in any way I can. They are doing critical work, not just for charter schools, but for the students they serve. INCS is truly fighting for the future of charter education in Illinois, and I can’t wait to see the continued positive impact they will have on schools across the state.
